Businesses including AMP, Major Projects Victoria and Australian Unity benefit from our advice on all aspects of their projects, from pre-contract, project delivery methods, project finance, procurement, drafting standard and bespoke construction contracts, to contract administration and interpretation.
Added to this is our substantial expertise in construction related disputes. We act in litigation and advise on all alternative dispute resolution processes and claims under Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act and the Contractors Debt Act.
With the focus on green-friendly construction, we also offer special skills in drafting and structuring project agreements which deal with the intricacies of clean energy legislation and achieving Green Star and NABERS ratings. Our lawyers were among the first in the legal industry to attend the Green Building Council of Australia’s Green Star Accredited Professional Course. We also have considerable expertise in the application of the National Greenhouse & Energy Reporting Act.

  • Bendigo Bank – acting on all property and construction aspects of the new Melbourne headquarters at Docklands and redevelopment and property aspects of sale and leaseback of corporate headquarters in Bendigo and rationalisation of property portfolio Australia wide.
  • Cbus Property – $300 million mixed use complex at 8 Exhibition Street, Melbourne; $400 million office and retail CBW complex at the corner of William and Bourke Street, Melbourne; $300 million mixed use complex above the railway station at 140 William Street, Perth; new NAB Docklands 2 development at 720 Bourke Street, Melbourne.
  • Epworth Health – $300 million major hospital redevelopment at Richmond, including property, construction and planning issues.
  • ISPT – $300 million “Century City” retail and commercial development at 100 St George’s Terrace Perth, including a 4.5 star ABGR green rating.
  • Major Projects Victoria – all construction documentation in respect of the Melbourne Museum in the Carlton Gardens and the redevelopment of the National Gallery of Victoria.
  • Mercy Hospital redevelopment and Southern Cross West Tower development – reviewing construction documentation and preparing construction related finance documents.
  • Shopping Centre refurbishments – numerous contracts for extension and refurbishment across Australia including, Bankstown, Colonnades, Whitehorse Plaza, The Glen, Gympie, Lake Macquarie, and others.

    Subdivision and off-the-plan projects:
    • Conveyancing and subdivisional matters – preparation of off-the-plan sales contracts, liaising with land surveyors regarding boundary and title issues, considering staged developments, drafting Owners Corporation Rules and arranging appointment of Owners Corporation Managers.
    • Major Construction Company – providing off-the-plan conveyancing services for its Merchant (80 lot), Concavo (170 lot) and Convesso (220 lot) residential apartment developments in Docklands, Melbourne.
    • Hue Boutique Living – providing off the plan conveyancing services for its 30 residential apartment development in Lord St, Richmond.
    • PDG Corporation - providing off the plan conveyancing services to their Abode 318 (400 lot) development in Russell Street, Melbourne.
    • Epping Development – negotiation of development agreement between land owner and AV Jennings development and construction of a $250 million lot residential subdivision.
