Justin is repeatedly named as one of Australia’s leading restructuring and insolvency lawyers in Chambers Asia Pacific and in the Asia Pacific Legal 500, and is described as ‘outstripping the competition’. Justin joined Gadens as a legal clerk in 1992 and is now the national head of the insolvency practice.
Over the last 20 years, he has acted predominately for banks and receivers. He has also acted for liquidators and company administrators.
He has conducted cases involving questions of banking practice, company law, professional indemnity insurance, misrepresentation, fraud and property law.
Very often Justin’s cases are conducted in the Supreme and District Courts of NSW and the Federal Court of Australia.
Justin has also been responsible for the conduct of Federal Court class action proceedings and NSW Court of Appeal matters.
- Acting for receivers following the collapse of Rubicon, Bridgecorp, Westpoint Group and Estate Property Group.
- Sale of distressed business with international operation. Negotiating sale terms and advising on bank shadow director concerns. Company operations ultimately sold to international buyer.
- Acting for receivers and secured lender on the receivership of a $100m hotel group.
- Conducting PPSA enforcement training for banks.
