Gadens advised Monash University on the construction contracts for the revitalisation of 343 Royal Parade, Parkville. The project will transform two former CSIRO laboratory buildings into a Drug Discovery Translation Hub for the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The development is a key part of Monash University’s strategy to expand its presence within Melbourne’s Parkville Biomedical Precinct. Once complete, it will deliver approximately 6,800 to 8,000 square metres of pharmaceutical research facilities, including PC2-certified laboratories, incubator laboratory spaces, research offices, collaboration areas and specialist building services. The revitalisation will create world-class facilities where cutting-edge technologies will enable research and development, including the exploration of next generation medicine.

Led by Daniel Middleton, Partner in Gadens’ Construction and Infrastructure team, Gadens advised on all construction contract aspects of the project. The matter involved complex contracting arrangements for highly specialised research infrastructure designed to support collaboration between researchers, industry and emerging life sciences enterprises.  The project also required careful planning and stakeholder management due to its location in a highly active research and residential precinct
