Biography
Jim specialises in all aspects of construction law, delivering tailored advice on project delivery models, risk allocation and contract frameworks for large scale developments. He works closely with clients from project inception through to delivery and dispute resolution, providing strategic guidance on contract structuring, risk management and compliance.
Jim has represented clients on some of Australia’s largest infrastructure projects, including the multi-billion-dollar NorthConnex tunnel development and Gold Coast Rapid Transit project. His expertise spans negotiation, mediation, adjudication, arbitration and litigation.
Beyond his legal practice, Jim contributes to the community as a non-executive director and board chair of UnitingCare Queensland. He is admitted to practice across multiple jurisdictions and is an accredited Grade 3 Arbitrator, as well as an adjudicator under the Security of Payment Act. Jim is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. His combination of technical skill, strategic insight and practical judgment positions him as a trusted adviser to clients on high stakes matters.

Advised on a major development in Ascot, QLD including acting in five contested adjudication applications, Supreme Court proceedings against a contractor, Supreme Court proceedings against environmental consultants, and negotiating contractual arrangements for with building contractor. -
City of Gold Coast
Advised on the development of the Gold Coast Rapid Transit Project across stages 1–3, which expanded the existing light rail tram network across QLD. -
Major equipment supplier
Assisted with contractual negotiations and dispute resolution for the $3bn NorthConnex Tunnel project.
