Biography
Martin specialises in structured debt funding, commercial property finance and corporate banking transactions, alongside regulatory advice on the National Credit Code, unfair contract terms and general banking law.
He acts for a broad cross‑section of lenders, including major banks, challenger banks and private debt funders, and is a trusted point of contact for many long‑standing clients. Martin’s work covers all sectors of banking, from small and medium enterprises through to institutional transactions, giving him a deep understanding of lender priorities across different markets.
Martin has hands‑on experience at every stage of a transaction, from due diligence and documentation through to settlement and post‑completion advice. He is recognised for his expertise in the PPSR, Capetown Convention International Registry, PEXA and for leading the design and development of loan and security precedents for new and established lenders. Clients value his commercial judgement, pragmatic approach and the collaborative way he works on transactions.

Updated consumer and commercial loan documentation to ensure compliance with key regulatory and industry frameworks, including the National Credit Code, Unfair Contract Terms regime, the Banking Code of Practice and the NSW Fair Trading Act. -
Major Australian trading banks
Advising for the syndicated loan arrangements to Tasman Logistics Group for the refinancing of the incumbent financier and acquisition of Malec Logistics with a deal size of $200m. -
Judo Bank & Regional Australia Bank
Advising on the development and redrafting of loan and security precedents to address changing regulatory regimes, including the introduction of unfair contract terms legislation. -
ME Bank
Acted for a lender on the acquisition of a loan book portfolio valued at more than $400m from a major bank, including coordinating the transfer of all associated security interests. -
Major Australian trading banks
Acting as its legal operations and settlement arm, documenting and settling more than 500 commercial loans each month, with deal values up to $200m. -
Judo Bank
Advising on the financing of the Kokoda Property group and purchase of the $1.5bn development site known as 'Teneriffe Banks'. -
Catholic Development Fund
Advising Catholic Development Fund on its participation in the St John syndication for total loan of over $1bn.
