Rose is a Partner in our Family & Relationship Law Team. She is a recognised Accredited Family Law Specialist who practises in all aspects of the field and serves on a number of influential committees and boards, including past Chair of the Family Law Accreditation Advisory Committee, as current member of the Victorian Specialisation Board as well as being a member of the Executive Committee of the Law Institute of Victoria’s Family Law Section, which she has also previously chaired, in addition to being a winner of the Accredited Specialist Award. Rose is regularly named in the annual publication of Doyle’s Guide in the list of Leading Family & Divorce Lawyers and in the list of Leading Family Lawyers (High-Value & Complex Property Matters). Doyle’s Guide publication is drawn from peer colleague opinion.

Rose has dealt with complex property and maintenance settlements, liability for capital gains tax in family law settlements and the interaction between bankruptcy and family law, including priorities over creditors, and all aspects of defacto relationships. Another of Rose’s specialties is acting for third parties to a marriage who have intervened in, or have been joined to, or otherwise become involved with Family Court proceedings between spouses. Rose is additionally trained in and able to offer clients the dispute resolution mechanism known as “collaborative law.”

Specific assignments

  • Acting in large scale, complex Family Court litigation involving high net worth asset pools. Acting in relation to a successful constitutional challenge in the High Court.
  • Conducting the first three international abduction cases in Victoria after the Hague Convention provisions commenced in Australia, one of which was a highly publicised case involving three Scottish girls abducted to Australia by their father.
  • Acting in a variety of complex interstate and international property division matters.
  • Acting in relation to Binding Financial Agreements and litigation pertaining to such agreements.
