Biography
Susan acts in high-stakes commercial litigation, regulatory investigations and class actions. She works with government departments and agencies, major corporates, directors, professional service firms and individuals on complex and often sensitive matters.
She has built strong expertise in regulatory work through acting for the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), the National Disability Insurance Agency, the Department of Home Affairs and the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS). Susan leads investigations and prosecutions, manages judicial review proceedings and acts in tort matters including misfeasance in public office, defamation, negligence and nuisance. She represents clients in examinations by regulators and liquidators and seeks judicial advice and court approval for insolvency practitioner actions and settlements.
Susan has extensive experience in insolvency and corporate disputes including oppression suits, as well as acting for and against liquidators and receivers on litigation stemming from major corporate collapses. Her work spans complex trust issues, misleading and deceptive conduct, breaches of the Corporations Act and the ASIC Act, directors' duties, auditors' negligence, breach of contract and a wide range of tort claims.

Advised in investigations and claims against major banks for insider trading, AML/CTF breaches, and mis-selling of insurance products following the Financial Services Royal Commission. -
Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu
Defended Deloitte in Federal Court proceedings and a class action for auditors' negligence, achieving favourable settlements with Court approval. -
Department of Home Affairs
Successfully defended claims for misfeasance in public office, including Grass v Slattery [2018] FCA 1719. -
IPP Financial Advisors
Represented Singaporean and Malaysian investors in proceedings for misleading conduct and breaches of the Corporations Act to recover over $16m. -

Advised in proceedings brought by Qantas alleging he copied confidential electronic information before resigning to join Virgin Airlines. -

Advised on a claim for auditors' negligence brought by Penrice, settled on favourable terms. -
