Media release I Gadens signs up to the WGEA Pay Equity Ambassador Program
30 March 2015
At Gadens we take gender equity seriously. Indeed, the integrity of our values demands that we do not discriminate or have bias. This ethos underpins how we operate as a firm, both as a partnership and employer. Accordingly, we are committed to ensuring equality in the workplace. This applies to all we do, including for example, in recruitment, performance and remuneration reviews, and promoting people.
Pay equity is achieved when women and men receive equal pay for work of comparable performance or equal value. To achieve pay equity, we strive to address like-for-like gender pay gaps by eliminating gender bias in talent management and remuneration decisions. This helps ensure that we attract and retain top talent and reflects our strategic intent to be an Employer of Choice.
To show our firm’s commitment in this regard, we have become Pay Equity Ambassadors under the Workplace Gender Equality Agency’s Pay Equity Ambassador Program. Under this program, we have committed the firm to the following pledge:
I recognise gender bias can creep into performance, talent development and pay decisions to create like-for-like gender pay gaps.
That is why we analyse and monitor our talent management data, including pay, by gender and take action.
I also set the expectation among all our people that they address gender bias in their work and decision-making.
I do this because we know we can’t attract and retain the best people for the firm and improve productivity and performance if there is any unfairness or perception of unfairness in our workplace.
I encourage other business leaders to take the first step. Equal pay is in your hands.
In line with our values, everyone in our firm is encouraged to ensure that our workplace is fair and equitable, and remains free from bias and discrimination.
