Steven is a Partner of Gadens in our Employment Advisory and School Law practices.

He has years of experience in advising our corporate clients on all aspects of employment and industrial law including contractual and legislative rights and obligations,  employment disputes and litigation, discrimination and termination claims, redundancy, transmission of business, industrial matters and strategic planning around industrial and employment issues.  Steven has conducted significant employment litigation in State and Federal Courts and Tribunals.

As a member of our School Law team, Steven has extensive experience in the education sector and acts for independent and Catholic secondary schools and TAFE and adult education institutions. He advises on employment, student and parent issues and disputes that are peculiar to educational institutions including those involving staff and teachers, discrimination claims, bullying, cyber and social media issues, interpretation and advice on enterprise agreements and contractual disputes.  Steven also advises and assists educational institutions in relation to policy and compliance with their mandatory reporting obligations, the child safe standards, child abuse laws and the reportable conduct scheme.

Steven has delivered many seminars and training sessions over the years on topical issues that concern educational institutions.

Steven has been recognised as “Best Lawyer – Employee Benefits Law” by Best Lawyers Australia for 2014-2017. He is also a committee member of the Victorian Chapter of the Australia & New Zealand Education Law Association Ltd (ANZELA).

  • Advice and acting for employers and educational institutions in discrimination and equal opportunity complaints in the Victorian Equal Opportunity Commission, Australian Human Rights Commission, VCAT and the Federal courts.

  • Advising schools on child safety issues, compliance with mandatory reporting obligations, reportable conduct scheme and policy compliance.
