Deal profile | Gadens supports Barwon Investment Partners with its investment into Specialist Disability Accommodation for NDIS participants

Gadens was engaged by Barwon Investments Partners on behalf of the newly launched Barwon Disability Accommodation Fund (BDAF) to advise on the acquisition of land at High Wycombe, Western Australia. The land will be used for the development of National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) supported accommodation units. Our team advised on the land acquisition as well as the leasing and development aspects of the facility, including providing our expertise in development fund through arrangements.

Providing NDIS participants with more choice and control about where they want to live, Barwon Investment Partners is committed to investing in new custom designed housing to meet the needs of people with disability and special care needs.

Deal Significance: In June 2021, Barwon Investment Partners launched the BDAF presenting the opportunity to invest in quality disability accommodation across Australia. The Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) sector is rapidly growing and is currently estimated to be worth up to $12 billion in the next three years, address the disparity between the limited supply of suitable disability housing and the demand being generated by NDIS participants.
