Gadens partners with Many Rivers, a not-for-profit organisation established to facilitate micro-enterprise development for marginalised and disadvantaged people. Many Rivers has a special focus on encouraging Indigenous Australians to establish, sustain and grow businesses as a way of overcoming welfare dependency and other social and economic challenges. Over the years, Many Rivers has helped to create or expand over many businesses, with the majority of their clients still operating after three years and being independent of welfare. The numerous successes of Many Rivers are set out in their latest annual report.
On 16 November 2016, Gadens hosted Many Rivers’ annual update lunch in Melbourne. Many Rivers presented their latest annual report, as well as clients’ stories and success data, which demonstrated their fantastic achievements in reducing welfare dependence in remote communities through enabling small businesses and enterprises to thrive.
Various Gadens team members regularly provide pro bono assistance to Many Rivers, including our:
Property, Construction & Planning Group who assist with leasing advice; and
Disputes Group who provide legal advice and assist with recovery of business debts.
Indigenous Remote Communications Association (IRCA)

Our Corporate Group regularly provide pro bono help including recently advising on IRCA’s indigiTUBE audio platform. IndigiTUBE is an exciting platform which provides an open forum to promote and celebrate remote Indigenous music, media, culture, languages, history and innovation, as well as to assist in the relief of poverty, sickness, helplessness, serious economic disadvantage and social distress of its members.
