Andrew is a Special Counsel in the Property, Construction & Planning Group. He has practised exclusively in the area of construction, engineering and infrastructure law for over 15 years.
Andrew has experience across all forms of project procurement including traditional construct only, design and construct, construction management, project management, PPP/PFI, BOT/ BOOT, EPCM/EPC and specialist expertise in contract disputes.
Andrew combines a practical interest in construction and engineering, with commercial problem solving skills and an in-depth understanding of substantive construction law.
Prior to joining Gadens in November 2019, Andrew practised as a barrister at the Victorian Bar since 2005. He was previously a Senior Associate in the Construction Group at Minter Ellison and also worked in London acting on behalf of contractors involved in international court proceedings and arbitrations.
Andrew has a keen interest in the development of contract and tort law, and has contributed to various practitioner publications and conducted seminars on topical construction law issues. Andrew has been Commended twice for his entries in the prestigious UK Society of Construction Law Hudson Prize, received a High Commendation in the Australian SCL Brooking Prize and his papers are cited in Construction Law in Australia (Bailey), Brooking on Building Contracts (Whitten et al), Economic Loss (Bernstein) and Keating on Construction Contracts.
